FAQs

Every photoshoot session should feel relaxed and easy, with space for you to settle in and be yourself. Whether you are coming in for a children’s portrait, a corporate headshot, or a lifestyle shoot, this page will walk you through what to expect before, during, and after the session.

  • For Personal Portraits

You are encouraged to stay hydrated and have a good rest the night before your shoot to ensure that you look your best.

There is no need to worry about knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. Guidance will be provided throughout the session.

If the portraits are for professional use, you may share how the images will be used so the session can be planned accordingly.

    For Children

My signature style focuses on celebrating each child’s journey of becoming. I usually encourage parents to bring along items that reflect what the child is currently learning or practising, such as a chess set, a violin, or a taekwondo outfit for example.

Children do best when they are well rested. A rested child is more likely to feel calm and open during the session.

Light snacks are available in the studio, but I suggest you bring your child’s favourite snack, especially if they have allergies. You are also welcome to bring along an item of comfort such as a favourite blanket or soft toy. Familiar items often help children settle more quickly.

  • All portrait sessions take place in the studio (160 Paya Lebar Road, #06-07, Singapore 409022). There is ample parking at the basement carpark.

For on-location corporate shoots, please reach out to me separately via the contact us form.

  • For Personal Portraits

Please bring 3 to 4 outfits. This usually includes one formal look, one smart casual option, and one more relaxed outfit. This gives us flexibility to create a range of portraits with different moods.

Neutral tones work well on camera, but bold colours are also suitable if they align with your personal style. Very bright, or neon-coloured tops are not recommended, as they can reflect light strongly and create unwanted highlights. T-shirts with large logos or cartoon graphics are best avoided, as they tend to distract from the face

Choose clothing that feels true to you and timeless rather than trend led. Well-fitted pieces tend to photograph best. Avoid outfits that are overly tight, as they may show creases, and overly oversized clothing, which can appear untidy on camera.

You are welcome to bring along any items that may be personally significant to you, and you’d like to be photographed with. It could be a musical instrument, a set of uniform, tools you use at work or even your favourite bottle of wine!

Do not be shy. It is totally normal for clients to bring a luggage along.

    For Children

Please bring 3 to 4 outfits for your child. We may not use all of them, but this gives us good flexibility and variation. If one outfit does not work on camera, we still have alternatives to work with.

Neutral tones photograph beautifully, but bold colours are welcome too if they reflect your child’s personality. Very bright, fully white tops are not recommended as they can be highly reflective and may interfere with the lighting. T-shirts with large logos or cartoon graphics are best avoided, as they tend to distract from the face

Timeless pieces will age better than trendy ones. Layers such as cardigans or jackets work well and give us more options during the session.

If your child is currently learning or practising something meaningful to them, such as music, sports, or a hobby, you are welcome to bring along related outfits or items. These often add depth and personal meaning to the portraits.

You might like to know that we have a piano (keyboard) and a guitar in the studio. Just let us know in advance if you would like to shoot with these items and we’d be happy to make arrangements.

  • For Personal Portraits

We begin with a short conversation to get to know each other and to explain how the session will flow. The aim is for you to feel relaxed and comfortable before we start.

    For Children

We begin with a short and friendly introduction. Children are given time to explore the space and get comfortable before any photographing begins. There is no pressure to perform or pose right away.

  • For Personal Portraits

If you feel awkward in front of the camera, you are not alone. Most people do.

You will be guided through posture, poses, and expressions. We start with warm up shots and build from there. As the session progresses, confidence usually comes naturally.

Conversations are kept light and minimal during shooting so we can stay focused. Small breaks are taken in between outfit changes, backdrop changes, or lighting adjustments.

Sessions typically last about 1.5 to 2 hours. The focus is always on quality rather than rushing.

Note that late arrivals will reduce the available session time.

    For Children

Each child is different, and the session flows around their temperament.

Some children are playful and energetic. Some are shy and quiet. Others may take time to warm up. All of this is welcomed.

The session usually starts with observation. Play, movement, stillness, and quiet moments are all part of the process. Shy children are photographed as they are. Energetic children are allowed to move. If a child does not wish to cooperate, we work gently with whatever they present in that moment.

You are encouraged to relax and trust the process. Your insights on what usually works for your child are always appreciated.

Children sessions typically last about 60-90 minutes. We cater up 90 minutes as children tend to lose interest if sessions go on for too long.

Note that late arrivals will reduce the available session time.

  • About one week after the shoot, you will be shown a curated selection of images. During peak periods, this may take slightly longer. Test shots and unusable frames are removed so you only view the strongest images. You will then be invited to select the images you wish to purchase.

Professional retouching is done on the selected images, keeping the final result natural and true to life. Editing style follows my signature approach. Additional editing requests may be available at an added cost.

Final high resolution digital images are typically delivered in about two weeks following the selection, depending on the number of images chosen.

Images may be used for personal purposes such as keepsakes, wall art, LinkedIn, or personal branding. If images are required for commercial use, a commercial copyright buyout will apply.

Selected images may be used by me or my company, Elefond, for portfolio and marketing purposes. Be assured that it is always done with care and respect.

  • If you have concerns before your session, whether about a child not cooperating or feeling unsure in front of the camera, please know that you are in good hands.

Our goal is for you to leave the session feeling reassured, confident, and cared for.
